Pacoima Mural Project Lead Artist
LA Commons is searching for 4 Lead Artists to each work with 2 Youth Arts Apprentices (Age 15-25) to collect community stories, and to design a mural panel on Van Nuys Blvd. in Pacoima. The Youth Artists team members will also be paid a stipend for their work. LA Commons will coordinate project partners, supply acquisition, workshop space and recruiting the Youth Arts team. With local community organizations and partners, this project aims to transform public spaces in Pacoima through community-centered-art that uplift the creation of climate and environmental justice transformation in Pacoima. This project will engage each local artist and youth apprentices, and community members to each create a mural panel (4 total) that reflect Pacoima’s unique stories, values, and culture.

Pacoima Utility Box Lead Artist
LA Commons is searching for 2 Lead Artists to work with a core Youth Arts Apprentices (Age 15-25) to collect community stories, and to design utility box artworks to share and promote environmental action themes in Pacoima. The youth apprentice team members will meet periodically and also be paid a stipend for their work. LA Commons will coordinate project partners, supply acquisition, workshop space and recruiting the Youth Apprentice team. With local community organizations and partners, this project aims to transform public spaces in Pacoima through community-centered-art. This project will engage local artists, youth apprentices, and community members to create utility box artworks that reflect Pacoima’s unique stories, values, and culture.

Leimert Park Lead Photographer
LA Commons is searching for 1 lead artist/photographer to deliver an 11-week photography workshop series inspired by the upcoming Getty photography exhibition, “Photography and the Black Arts Movement.” The lead photographer will collaborate with LA Commons on the development and curriculum of the workshops, which will focus on technical skills as well investigate themes pertinent to our Leimert Park community. The program will culminate in a public exhibition at the Leimert Park site, showcasing participant work and activating shared reflection on the role of art in advancing social justice and resilience.
