LA Commons is assembling a team of youth (Age 15-25) to work with a professional artist to collect stories from the community members and students from South LA to gather community stories in the Hyde Park Neighborhood near Slauson and Crenshaw in South Los Angeles, and to share these stories through temporary works of public art as light pole medallions. The goal of the project is “place keeping” by engaging the community and creating art that uplifts the visibility of the

unique cultures and people of Hyde Park.


Each Youth Arts team member will be paid a $200 stipend, will receive certificate of appreciation and community service hours for their work. This project can accept up to 20 Youth Artists. Youth will gain art skills in the discipline of project, e.g. painting, graphic design and medallion design and implementation.
