Heart of Hyde Park

Hyde Park is nestled in the heart of South Central and is one of the centers of African American life in Los Angeles.

The Heart of Hyde Park Mural will highlight local heroes and the multicultural heritage of the neighborhood.

Lead Artist Moses Ball and Associate Artist Dezmond Crockett are leading a cohort of youth artists through mural fabrication process from research to design and painting through installation.

The final mural design was a synthesis of youth artist sketches after they interviewed local community members who shared stories about their upbringing, personal journeys through adulthood ranging from entrepreneurship to raising a family, local history, and regional history that shed light on the African influence in Meso America during our story gathering at The A.F.I.B.A. Center in South LA.
