On Friday June 21, 2024 we will be Celebrating Make Music Day (Fête de la Musique) in Leimert Park with a free, global livestream concert as part of the Paris 2024 Cultural Olympiad! The outdoor concert event and global livestream will feature performances from Cultural Treasures of South LA.
Founded in 1982 as Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day is now celebrated in more than
1,000 cities in 120 different countries. The French government and the French people
take pride in how the Fête de la Musique has grown to become an international
phenomenon. For that reason, the Paris 2024 Cultural Olympiad has selected Make Music
Day as one of their key days of action leading up to the games. In collaboration with the LA City Department of Cultural Affairs and Make Music LA, LA Commons has curated an exciting performance that represents the diverse sights, sounds, and cultures of Los Angeles.
Join us at 8AM on People Street in front of the Vision Theatre for performances by South LA Cultural Treasures Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center Jazz Band with Dwight Trible, Kinnara Taiko , Nicholas Dance Studio , poetry by S. Pearl Sharp , and a special music workshop by Project Knucklehead! Creative musicians and artists from around the world will pass a heartbeat rhythm from Mexico to Canada, with the final destination of Paris. Our incredible Cultural Treasures will pick up the ‘rhythmic relay’ at 8:50AM. Don’t miss out!
