Chinatown is located between Downtown and Dodger Stadium, and bordered east/west by Beaudry Ave and Olvero Street/Union Station. Established in the late 19th century, the original neighborhood was demolished to make room for Union Station. The community migrated west and the area that today encompasses New Chinatown was officially established in 1938. The area evolved through a collective community process, resulting in a blend of Chinese and American architecture. 1930’s Hollywood set designers helped its focus as a tourist destination.
