Edgar’s first tour, entitled “Tastes and Desires of MacArthur Park” will focus on the unique and delicious food of the Park. Tour goers will be exposed to the variety of food that the community of MacArthur Park has to offer. This includes Central American food and other cuisines that participants will be able to enjoy. The purpose of this tour is to explore Latin American cuisine by learning about the history of some of the food. Eventually we will taste it and see what we think of it, but more than anything the idea is to see how the food from many different countries has shaped the community of MacArthur Park.
This tour begins at Mama’s Hot Tameles Cafe at 2122 West Seventh Street, located half a block west of Alvarado St., and directly across the southern border of MacArthur Park. Tour participants can park at the parking lot next to the Westlake/MacArthur Park Station. Tour participants are also invited to bring some extra spending money in case they want to buy any extra food (on top of what will be provided).
