For “Trekking LA 2017,” we are again organizing “A Date with Islam” during the Islamic month of Ramadan, May 26th – June 25th.

In keeping with our mission to use art and culture to bridge Los Angeles’ diverse community, LA Commons, in partnership with Muslim community leadership, is excited to present creative ways for Angelinos to explore the many facets of Islam to deepen our collective understanding of the members of the community and learn more about their rich contributions to LA’s cultural stew. Through our “Trekking LA” program, we have the perfect vehicle to offer experiences that bring people together for a joint learning process that is both fun and educational.

With the intent of bringing LA together to better understand Islam in our city as well as the annual month that alternates fasting and feasting, Ramadan, we invite you to join us on the hilltop at Barnsdall Park for a casual evening of food, music, poetry and mingling.

Enjoy FREE food as you connect with the breadth of cultures, ethnicities and traditions that reflect being a Muslim in LA and celebrating the lunar month.

The evening ends at sunset, when everyone is invited to look up to the sky to see the birth of the new moon.
