the meal eaten by Muslims after sunset during Ramadan.
Join LA Commons’ Executive Director Karen Mack for an informal experience to break the fast at the Islamic Center of Southern California on Wednesday, June 29th at 7:30pm.
This month’s new moon on June 5th marked the beginning of the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. The fasting lasts from sunrise to sunset; a meal, suhur, is eaten before dawn and the fast is broken after sunset with another meal, iftar. Nightly iftars are a time to join together with friends, family, and community.
