Spring is a magnificent season of life and beauty. Flowers blossom everywhere!

To celebrate the season, LA Commons brings together the dynamic rhythm and dance traditions of Africa and Korea. Women drummers and dancers of S.H.I.N.E. Mawusi and Ko’s Korean Traditional Dance Institute will showcase a cross-cultural performance, “Blossoming Flowers: Rhythm & Dance of Africa and Korea.” Blossoming Flowers is symbolic of two communities of women drummers and dancers coming together to plant seeds of friendship, all creatively expressed through the invigorating rhythm and dance of Africa and Korea.

Performance highlights include a special guest appearance by internationally acclaimed Korean dancer Kim Jin Ok who will showcase the splendor, glory and magnificence of the Kyobang Dances of the great master Jeung Min. Women drummers and dancers of Ko’s Korean Traditional Dance Institute is joined by the West African all women’s percussion troupe S.H.I.N.E. Mawusi with special guests Najite Agindotan, the King of African Drum, and Pansori Singer Warren Kim.

Families, dancing feet and all ages welcome.
